How many data centres are there in the UK?
This directory currently tracks 49 purpose-built data centres in the UK. 31 are operating and 18 are under construction, approved or planned.
Published totals vary a lot because they count different things. Some include small server rooms inside offices; some count a multi-building campus as one site and others as several. We only list purpose-built facilities that have a public source, so our number is a floor, not a census. It grows as we add sites.

Construction is concentrated where power and land are available: west London and the M4 corridor, plus the government's AI Growth Zones in the North East, Wales, Oxfordshire and Lanarkshire.
