Hunterston Data Centre (Eneus Energy)

Proposed hyperscale data centre campus of about 164 acres on Hunterston Estate land near Hunterston Castle, north of West Kilbride, being advanced by Eneus Energy with the estate. North Ayrshire Council agreed the scope of the environmental impact assessment (26/00138/EIA, a scoping request rather than a planning application) on 30 March 2026, and the developer held public consultation in 2026. As of 9 October 2026 no planning application had been lodged; Eneus says one is programmed for 2026, with construction from 2027/28 if approved. No capacity has been published. Coordinates are approximate (east of the castle, where the developer says the buildings would sit).
