What the job involves

Electricians work on data centres in two phases. During construction, contractors install the power distribution, containment and cabling for new halls. Once a site is live, shift electricians and authorised persons maintain switchgear, UPS systems and generators.

Most UK roles ask for 18th Edition (BS 7671), an NVQ Level 3 and the AM2, and an ECS gold card. Construction work follows the build pipeline, so the busiest areas are where new sites are going up.
